This three part series communicates that through incorporating age-specific considerations into the care for each patient: You help identify and provide the care that particular person needs at that time of life You help the person become an active partner in health decisions, as much as the persons age makes possible, and you will help your institution comply with accreditation standards established by the Joint Commission Each program also systematically addresses the following five areas with each of the three age groups: Age characteristics Communication Age-specific care Nursing considerations Safety Needs.
