Controlling Violence In Healthcare
1994, Updated 2010

This program addresses the increasing problem of violence in healthcare by explaining and demonstrating techniques for preventing and containing violence. An accident victim in ER is so angry that he is ready to strike out at the staff. A confused elderly nursing home resident wants to go home and is frantically crying out for help. A psychiatric patient believes the staff is trying to kill him and his behaviour is escalating toward violence. A postoperative patient is sexually harassing the nurses. Will he respond to limit setting with violence? Approaches to these challenging situations are demonstrated within the framework of a facility-wide safety program designed to reduce or control incidents of violence.
