Program Overview:

Joint Commission Standards require that ALL clinical staff members receive training to become sensitive to cultural diversity and its implications for the delivery of safe and quality healthcare to patients.

Learning Objective:To educate all hospital staff on the necessity of providing every patient with effective and respectful care in a manner that is compatible with each patients cultural beliefs and practices.

Standards issued by The Joint Commission and the Office of Minority Healths National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) emphasize cultural competence and sensitivity to issues regarding culture, race gender, sexual orientation, functional ability and economic situation for good patient care.
