How to Deal with Anger & Other Emotions - In Adverse Event & Error Disclosure
The Failure to disclose is due frequently to a lack of the needed interpersonal and communication skills. This 2 DVD set and accompanying workbook addresses this issue. It's designed to help with those extremely difficult interviews about adverse event and medical error disclosure. Example of various types of difficult interviews are illustrated in eight unscripted scenarios utilizing standardized patients.
The interviews, or situations, fall into one of four categories requiring disclosure:
1. When the patient's clinical state has taken a major and unexpected change for the worse.
2. A situation in which an adverse event has occurred.
3. When there has been a medical error resulting in a significant clinical effect.
4. Informing relatives following a death.
