Included are detailed explanations of the four most common types of adverse reactions to psychotropics: lithium toxicity, atropinic overload, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, and extrapyramidal side effects, also known as movement disorders. Content includes signs and symptoms, reasons these indicators may be overlooked, and classes of drugs which may contribute to adverse reactions. The discussion on movement disorders covers dystonia, dyskinesia, and akathisia as well as explanation of the term tardive. The information is reinforced by realistic scenarios which clearly depict the situations and symptoms being described.
