Overview:Because of its many benefits, providing a bed bath is an important skill nursing assistants need to master to provide competent care to residents. Bed baths are given to individuals who cannot be transported to a bathtub or shower. It promotes cleanliness, comfort and a sense of well-being for the individual who is dependent upon caregivers. It also provides the resident with mild exercise, provides an opportunity for close observation of skin conditions, enhances circulation, and helps prevent pressure sores.
